Glen Canyon Recreation Area and beautiful Lake Powell are at the center of this raised relief map, which also features Canyonlands and Capitol Reef National Parks, the San Raffael Desert, Fishlake and Manti-La Sal National forests, Natural Bridges National Monument and much more. It crosses the Utah-Arizona border to show Monument Valley, Rainbow Plateau, and both the Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon National Tribal Parks. This map is carefully annotated with roads, plateaus, deserts, bodies of water, canyons, mountain ranges and individual peaks, as well as State and National parklands. It is available both unframed (poster style) and framed (light, natural or dark stained solid oak wood and black aluminum).
Each raised relief map starts as a map printed on a flat study sheet of vinyl. It is carefully registered over a 3D model that is made from USGS digital elevation model data. The vinyl is heated to make it pliable and a vacuum is created to form the map over the model. Take a look at the process below.
