Explore the Earth with Columbus Globes
Globes are a beautiful way to view the Earth. Ever since the existence of a spherical Earth was confirmed by the Ancient Greeks, mankind has been captivated by the globe. Evidence of globe making has been traced all the way back to the 2nd century B.C., with the earliest surviving globes dating to the 1400s A.D. Unfortunately, due to their delicate nature most early globes were not able to withstand the test of time.
To create the finest globes available, Columbus Globes utilizes a mix of traditional and modern globe making techniques. One of the most impressive modern features pioneered by Columbus Globes is their DUO technology. With a DUO globe you get 2 globes in 1. A different map is displayed depending on whether or not the globe is illuminated. In the first mode you are presented with a political map, complete with high contrast colorful shading of each country. In the second mode, you get a brilliant rendering of the Earth’s physical terrain. Each of the maps featured on these globes is manually cut and hand-applied. This attention to detail is what sets Columbus apart!
Columbus Globes uses a highly automated and modern manufacturing process. They were the first company to introduce plastic globes. Even though they are constantly pushing the envelope and innovating, they still stick true to the traditions. They are currently the only manufacturer who still offers hand-blown glass globes. We are proud to offer a huge selection of Columbus Globes.
